Acerca de

I am a Venezuelan artist who studied art in Caracas. My main motivation is cultural encounters, where expressions are freely exchanged, giving strength and life to the identity of communities.

My most frequent media are ink and watercolours, used in my drawings, to explore the vivacity of the stroke. This element represents for me, the direct transmission of internal pulsations. Allowing me to interpret the world around me directly.

Simultaneous to my passion for the aesthetic in images, there is also an interest in the social sphere and how to contribute to it through the tools that art offers.

This website offers a glimpse of my work, as well as the cultural projects that I have had the opportunity to lead. I invite you to explore it and discover my path as a painter and cultural mediator.

The concept of Timotohana arises from the exploration of the ethnic roots of Venezuelan identity. This name is a combination of the word "TIMOTE", the name of one of the tribes that inhabited the Venezuelan Andes, together with "HANA" the Japanese word for "FLOWER".

The optimal maritime exchange between Japan and Peru could explain a very ancient connection between these two regions. Knowing the Incas were the main iempire of the Andes, the Timotes may have descend from them, moving later closer to the Caribbean.

I like to think that's the story behind the phenotypic similarities between these cultures and that part of in my ancestors.

All this adds to the generous natural mix of my native background:

Caribbean-Andean-Mediterranean, I am.
